Birth Centre

Birth Centre designed for St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Floor plan is designed to empower birthing women to reclaim the birthing experience. All office and consult spaces are designed to be entered into a corner, evoking the instinctual comfort of the corner. Each birthing suite includes an alternative therapy space. Professionals, family members and friends may be entering and exiting the birthing suite, but the alterative therapy spaces are designed with a translucent partition near the doorway. This means that when a birth mother is in need of a private moment and another body enters the room or knocks for permission to enter, the birthing woman hears the on-comer before and as they enter, before the on-comer sees the birthing mother, meaning that the birthing woman remains in control of the space.
